yesterday, p and i decided to do a bit of aimless wandering down the charming streets of paris – patrick with his new shootsac and a monopod, and me with my mark iv and rapidstrap. after a crepe breakfast, we stumbled upon a riot, and quite a large one at that. not knowing at all what people were screaming about, we decided to shoot and find out as we followed them.
it turns out that the french government wants to raise the minimum retirement age from 60 to 62. i can see why people might be a little perturbed by that.
the strike is putting much of the city on hold – especially transportation. but for us, it was a day of discovery and a lot of novelty.

definitely some objectionable content here and there.

and then the craziness began.

and at midday, it was almost as dark as night because of the smoke.

and just around the corner, crowd control waiting for a disturbance.

and as we turned down a side street to leave the craziness, we enjoyed the relative peace, although the smoke continued to follow us for quite some time.

BUM shot. ;)
Brilliant footage as always. Please run a seminar over here in London, the industry desperately need your mad skills.
Awesome butt shot in the first frame!
Difficult not to love that first frame. So good guys.
Very intersting the way you’ve screen this. It gives some fresh air to something we currenlty look on Tv with the same and the same shots.
Great pics! Great video too!
so good! love seeing your personal work.
hi SM.. sory if my question is out of topic, do you mind if i ask about your photo postprocessing of that police photo? the last 2 photos before video.. i love that kind of style.. :D
Guys, Its awesome to see this strike through your eyes!
Gov not only say minimum age should go from 60 to 62, but also legal age from 65 to 67.
Problem is we employ people in average until 58, after they’re tired, hill, depressed or whatever… So who’s gonna pay between 58 and 67?
Anyway, good shots!
