what a whirlwind month.
yesterday we left for the superbowl in dallas. with the snow storms in toronto it took nearly an hour on the runway just to get ready for take-off. we got a day of testing the helmet cam on radio row with some pretty cool interactions between our talent POV character and many great football players of past and present.
after the packers win on sunday we head off to oklahoma and boca raton at the same time. we have a little marketing project for the NFL in oklahoma and one of our final web films for callaway in florida.
from there some of us get to head home while the rest of us meet up in portland for some exciting w.e. projects. all i can say is watch out WPPI, w.e. is going to have a blast.
a couple days in portland highlighted by a stay at the doug fir hotel (we are hoping to catch a concert in the hotel while we are there) and then we are off to phoenix and las vegas. the las vegas crew will start prepping for WPPI while the phoenix crew gets to finish the helmet cam film (featured on our EDU blog). phoenixes one of the few places in the US we have yet to travel and i am excited to make it there.
ray and i then head to chicago for a seminar at notre dame on the 18th and then a talk at calumet on the 19th. that night we fly to vegas to meet up with the rest of the team and prep for WPPI.
our reunion will be rather short lived with the NFL combine starting that week and half of the team needing to head off to indy for that. as things wind down for the month a few of us will travel to LA for a wedding before finally returning to our respective homes in toronto and san francisco.
it can be tough to be on the road for two to three weeks at the time but the diversity in the projects we get to be a part of goes such a long way. not only does the content differ from one spot to another, we have a bunch of events and speaking engagements that break up the filming. within the shoots we have a blend of live events (go packers!) as well as produced pieces.
today is february second. i will see toronto again on february twenty seventh. that means that SM will visit dallas, oklahoma, boca raton, portland, phoenix, chicago, vegas, and LA all in twenty five days. for those of you wondering when we take a break, we have a nice big one planned for march. the entire SM team, as well as their spouses, are headed to the dominican for a week of all inclusive R&R. it’s a way for us to say thank you to the SM family for everything they give day in and day out in making SM what it is.
