on Monday night at the amazing Museum of Modern Art in New York, the stillmotion fam joined a group of people invited to the premiere screening of A Game of Honor. it was an incredibly rewarding experience and such a fitting end to months of intense production. this past week A Game of Honor has been featured in GQ, the New York Times, the Examiner, the LA Times, and even Sports Illustrated. a big thanks to Cinevate for sponsoring the premiere screening and helping to make the night possible.
the day after the screening, Neil Best said this in Newsday
‘After the screening, CBS Sports president Sean McManus rose to tell an audience that included television and military personnel that the evening was “one of the proudest nights in the history of CBS Sports.”
I would say it was one of the proudest in the history of all sports television.’
Dennis, from Cinevate, and Paul, from LensProToGo, join us on the red carpet for a picture before the screening. Both Cinevate and LensProToGo have been huge supporters of stillmotion over the years and we will be forever grateful for all that they have done for us.
the stillmotion fam grabbing a picture together after the screening. Joyce, Justin, and myself shot the majority of the film with Paul, Ray, Quenna, and Amanda also contributing whenever and where ever they were needed. Quenna also spent 7 weeks straight in New York helping in post as the film neared completion. Evan and Amina joined us for the final game and helped out with BTS pictures and managing all the gear.
A Game of Honor premieres tonight on Showtime at 10PM EST. we are so excited for the world to see this film and we hope you are able to check it out.

Cheers! This is so exciting to have been able to hear the behind the scenes stories about how this was made, watch some amazing clips…I can’t wait to see it on TV. You guys are truly an amazing group of artists.
There are two valuable lessons I’ve learned from the pic of the stillmotion team above.
The first is on the concept of interchangeability. I know you guys preach, and I do to, about not making ourselves interchangeable and the client as well. However reading the caption I did not realize that Evan and Amina only worked the final game.
What this says to me is, regardless of which team member is assigned to a project, it will in the end become meaningful to watch because everyone on SM is so skilled in producing work that affect rather than effect.
For example, “Angela + Alain // My Confession” was led by Ray. But I could have sworn it was Pat or vice versa for other projects. This points to the fact that you guys always put out work that has meaning we can all connect to. I think each SM member does it so consistently and naturally that the lines are blurred between team member to team member (to an outsider looking in at least ;)
In this way, members within SM are in fact interchangeable to the degree that it does not and will not degrade the final product!
Secondly I noticed how very little you guys brag or advertise about the three Emmy’s you guys have won.
Go to Stillmotion.ca and the first thing we see is a statement about being a Band of Filmakers who are Curious about the world around them and who Love to Tell Stories.
I think this speaks volumes about who SM is about and why your work consistently stands out amongst the rest. It is because you guys are true artists who never sit still, who are never content about what you’ve done – always looking to push yourself and yourselves – and in a relevant way to the stories you tell. Therefore an Emmy has less bearing on the future work that you do since the decisions you make today are relevant only to what’s in front of you today (yes accolades do serve a purpose for impressing big-wigs in the corporate sense but that is another discussion altogether).
Even your blogs are a metaphor for this concept as well. Look at the beginning letter of each paragraph, none are capitalized! This is a bold statement about how ideas are continuous forms (a.k.a. blogs are a collection of ideas transcribed onto the web), in the same way that artists continue to learn, grow and push themselves to the next level. There is no definite beginning nor end.
chapeu! this is a GREAT team!
so proud of you guys ;) happy new year
rockstarz :)

I’m So excited! I Will definitely not miss this for sure! :D
Sweet! Can’t wait to watch it! Been following your guys’ work ever since I was in high school! :D
How does one get themselves into that line up on the next big project? ha! It’s great for someone like me to see DSLR’S used to create an amazing documentary (from what I’ve seen so far) to be broadcast on tv. I have hopes to achieve the same myself sometime in the future!
