a sunday afternoon in NYC with the exceptionally warm and friendly jane + fred.
without giving it away before you see it, the dynamics of their relationship is really apparent in juxtaposition between their first meeting and jane walking down the aisle. those two events speak a lot about their relationship, and just how caring they are for each other.
on a side note, we were very fortunate that jane + fred’s entire wedding happened in one location (the lighthouse), which meant we could really be present on focus on their story as it unfolded, without having the think about the logistics of driving (traffic and parking) in manhattan. it also meant that we could be there to capture the bare space being transformed into a space filled with many thoughtful details and an abundance of love and tears.

As always, great job Patrick and team. How do you guys pull out the story, the essence of the couple?? It makes me mad you do it so well, but it makes me proud to know you’re a colleague. Nice work!
I love your laugh Stella. This film captured the emotion so well. You and Chi are great people. I agree with Chi’s brother, we should all have a “Little Stella” as a wifey. :-D
Yeah! we’ve been looking forward to viewing Stella and Chi’s highlight. This totally captures the joy and love of the marriage. Stella, I miss your smiles. let us know when you will visit Toronto next time! :)
AWESOME JOB!! I love it. Stella is so beautiful and her laugh is amazing. I’m so happy to see this. Eeks, it’s kinda nerve wracking to see yourself in one of these… :)
stella: i think i cried 3x in the 4 mins of this highlight video. we are literally at a lost for words. we cannot express how much this video means to us. thank you patrick. <3
some of you may remember jen + ming’s SDE from last summer. we usually don’t share both the SDE and highlights, however i think jen can handle all the press.
it was a day rich in events with an unbelievable san francisco city hall as the backdrop. it is probably one of the most grand locations we have shot in to date. i had a privilege to lead the kraziest party-train ever by flying the steadicam while followed by jen, ming and all the guests. i took them EVERYWHERE in the city hall: the main floor, upper floor, the hallways, even the grand set of stairs! it was certainly a highlight for me. and all it took was – ‘hey jen, follow me’.
it was a day full of emotions, as you will see in the piece. happy tears, shaking vows, warm hugs and unforgettable words.
all of which accounted for a very moving story.
here is a little inside story. while experimenting with one of the four white dresses (yep – four!) on windy streets of san francisco, ming got a little worried. he wanted to be sure to watch the dress very closely, just in case. there are two shots you can make ming out in the background, can you spot them?
What a breathtaking video…You guys did an amazing job of capturing this incredible venue. I could sit here for hours re-playing this! The audio is so touching! Could someone please tell me the name of the music is which is used in this video?
This is my first time coming to this page and I’ve been hooked for hours! Your work is truly amazing…every scene you captured speaks of the love each couple has for one another. Every story is never the same and I always end up crying! Being in love is an amazing feeling but seeing how love is to others is truly inspring! I only hope my wedding next year will speaks of the love I have for my fiance….thank you for sharing!
Seriously amazing. I think you guys should live part time in SF and part time in Canada. Then we could do more weddings together. You are truly a gift to the wedding industry.
WOW, I love your highlights for how moving they really are. I have seen hundreds of so called highlights (Including my own) which are normally a bunch of flashy clips thrown together. I love how you transition from clip to clip!! Your highlights capture the very emotion, love, anticipation, and excitement of the wedding day. They really tell a story to the viewer of what kind of people these couples really are. As you said in a previous posting…every clip tells something important about the day. I love your SDE’s but even more I am over come by your Highlights. Thank you for sharing it with us.
wow, konrado, the opening first shoot was used in the SDE i have seen, i remmember, again (or a variant of the shoot)anyways i luv it, is too beatiful maybe i can remember that shoot!, now in a wedding is wow the 3:29 is a magical transition very stunning, the steadicam shoot are beautiful like the place, but the music was selected to be an excelent rythm to storytelling what amazing piece.
To the boys of Still Motion….WOW. I am just speechless. You make all those memories on that day so fresh and familiar. I’m incredibly moved and touched by it all. I know that I will definitely treasure this for the rest of my life. Thank you for capturing the incredible memories and most importantly, with the people that I love most. You guys are truly amazing!
…And I’m telling that to everyone I know that will give me the time of day and listen.
Jen and Ming, you guys are adorable together! I especially love the family train going down the stairs and when Ming kissed Jen’s hands walking down the aisle. This is such a sweet video.
Konrad and Michael, I LOVE all the shots of the venue. You guys give justice to the grandiose look and feel I thought would be difficult to capture. Goes to say, nothing is difficult for Still Motion. You guys rock!
Awesome work guys! Love those Jamaican accents as well. I really like this one because I totally forgot about the gear you were using as the story drew me in so much. Well done!
I needed to see something wonderful today that was going to make me cry. How beautiful the both of you. Have a good life together….I am crying!! Bless, Birdie
p.s. thanks Cindi for allowing me to share one of your fantastic memories…Love ya
this one was particularly special for me to watch because i recently did my first destination wedding in Negril, Jamaica.
was this resort the Riu Negril?…some things looked identical to where i was but a few didn’t.
needless to say it brought back wonderful memories of my time there.
i love how it captured the care free attitude of the people there.
excellent job.
this highlight is awesome – joyful and touching!
i second Stella that it shows the personalities of Tiff and Ryan! and i hope to get a chance to learn how to dance from Tiff!!!
and the most touching part is when i see Tiff’s dad’s expressions :)
Konrad, you are talented!!!
WOW that was so good. Conrad you did awsome once again. Tiffani you looked gorgeous! I did shed a tear when your dad came into the room to get you. So sweet!
I love watching the different scenes with the couple practicing their dance and then doing it for real. The background song is a great pick too (I loved it so much I had to Google it!)
This film is IRIE!! ;) I loved the opening and then the change in music! Watching the part where Tiffany walks down the aisle with the change in pace of the music gave me goosebumps!!
Well, I have to say that Tiffany and Ryan told me at the workshop that their wedding was amazing, and I can see now that they were right! I am so happy for them…They were so much fun!!!! Thank you guys for helping us learn at the workshop and SM…awesome Highlights!
i really love the song that was used with this video, it fit so perfectly! great job konrad for showing highlights that are so fun and really show the personalities of the couple! tiffani and ryan seem so cool! love their dance. :-)
we call these highlights, and while it may be quite obvious where the name comes from, i think the meaning behind the word deserves a second glance. you will often see little details shot creatively and mixed into the story. these in themselves perhaps are not a highlight of the day, but each detail often has so much backstory with the weeks to months to years that went into choosing the absolutely perfect dress, shoes, or ring. when you see these details again in the film, they are meant to tie into the much larger story of a couple, the one that both precedes and follows a wedding day.
besides the main events what are the lesser known highlights you’re looking forward to, or if you’re already married, what were some deatils that ended up meaning so much more than you originally anticipated?
for my wedding, i didn’t decide on the shirt and ring i would wear until the morning of the wedding. we got all the guys together and with my belt and tie in hand we did a vote across the room to see which shirt was the best match. it was a small detail, but for some reason it really meant a lot.
and with that lead in i would like to share alan + marianne’s highlights. the morning of the wedding they were both practicing their dances separately as they were getting ready. this might be something we wouldn’t give a second glance to, but in this practicing there can be found so much more to their story. as wedding guests we can attend and share in 8 hours of a couple’s day and it all goes by so quickly that it can be easy to forget all that goes into making everything as it is. the juxtaposition of their preparations with their dances at the end of the night was a way of tying in that much larger story that is often left out.
when you see our films nothing is ever left to chance. each shot, each frame, each expression has a purpose or intent within the much larger film. while it sometimes may not be immediately clear what that is, half of the fun is exploring the film and looking deeper.
You guys are so awesome! I randomly found your site and it is completely inspiring. I recently quit my job in this tough economy to explore the more creative side of me and your story/work gives me hope at a moment when I’m completely scared. thank you!

i love this! you guys never cease to amaze me…from the shadows of the bridesmaids and the bottom of their dresses to the different dance sequences…your details and the way you all paint a story are priceless
this is a tear-breaker…it greatly captures the couple’s love in each other, and the love to the couple from the families, friends, bridesmaids and especially groomsmen (sometimes it appears everyone’s so busy that it’s hard to ask a group of groomsmen to prepare/practice a dance :-D)
simply put…phenomenal. you guys did an excellent job highlighting alan and marianne’s day to the point that i felt like i was there. i felt the all the emotions just pouring out of my screen…every smile, every tear and every laugh. it’s not every day that you can be so touched by a wedding video. bravo.
amina and patrick, i enjoyed hearing about your wedding and the little things that ended up being the higlight of the day. can you tell us how it felt being on the other side of th
I know this MUSIC…it is Forrest Gump Suite by Alan Silvestri on the motion picture soundtrack.
Patrick and team….this one is soooo gorgeous set to this soundtrack. Congrats. on your recent award!
Mr. P is a wedding cinematographer, have the experience of the moment, of the weddding, but now with opened horizons its grow a lot, cuz Mr. P have the experience to be a groom, know what the wife and groom feels, its like the complete experiencie, urs words are talking about, ur work is the same like ur best experience, for this first time, ur work and the aminas works, going to be truly awensome if the last was, the next one, going to be, forever maybe the best, and conitunue inspiring to….
You know this was amazing. My comments always say that…More than that, Amina, youre so freakin cute, and I just want to say that I adore you guys!!! Great highlights…where are yours??
Wow – what you guys do is absolutely magical… Seriously, a friend recently turned me onto your blog and I now look forward to each and every clip you do. I keep thinking these are movies not real wedding and real moments in time for these couples. Just beautiful – keep up the beautiful work
Stunning, breathtaking, absolutely beautiful! Your storytelling is amazing… I have so much to learn and what an incredible opportunity it will be to be part of your workshop in October. The way you tied together the dances was incredibly creative and I am blown away by how seamlessly those portions of the film were edited. WOW!
Nathalie is going crazy on where this song came from. Beautiful couple and mood of the film. I love the transition back and forth between Alan’s practice and reception performance.
Hello. I’ve been following your video posts for a long time now and am very impressed with your work. This is my first time actually commenting on your blog though. I was just wondering if you could tell me what song was used in this video? Thanks.
Of all the big and little things that happened on our wedding day, the most emotional moment for me was the first time we saw each other a few hours before the ceremony. I thought that the first kiss, the signing of the papers, or even walking down the aisle would feel bigger, but the moment that we saw each other for the first time was the moment when I first felt like we were truly married.
as the years go by, it’s amazing to realize the number of weddings we’ve shot and how our collective vision has grown, but most importantly of course is how the work itself continually progresses and evolves.
thus, when shooting Michelle + John’s wedding this past summer, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that despite some of the more faster paced work we’ve done in recent times, Michelle still prefers some our more traditional style of wedding films.
Michelle + John’s highlights give a respectful nod to the more traditional wedding work we did years ago, while maintaining the asthetic standards + story telling (thanks Michelle + John for the incredible speeches!) approach that we create today.
i’ve watched their highlights more times then I’d like to admit, and I still got goosebumps today previewing it one last time for the blog …
this is SICK! that second to last shot – when the minister tells them to kiss – come on!!! what movie am i watching?!? so sweet, guys… what a beautiful piece.
My fiance and I have hit a wedding planning ‘tough’ patch – dealing with everyone else’s opinions etc & have had a few blows along the way – the last few weeks I have had a tough time with one person’s involvement who I thought would have been the most supportive, and I know my fiance has struggled with boosting me up from this – John’s comment about ‘why we do all this for one day’ has given me a new ‘light’ to keep going with.
Thank you both! Y
big entry level on drama, wow, those cinema shot are big production on the start, and storytelling is amazing! 4 cams is how they worth! ( i mean groom and wife) there is where the weddings are inmortals, stillmotion cinematography! just coming from ideas from inmortal cinematographerss……..i luv how us used the ambiental audio from the reception i think so with that score works on everything ways when u do and have wideangles shoots (i mean awensome shoots on the steadicam)…i mean the text
Superb speeches! Works very well with the ’story-telling’ aspect of the highlight. Great work guys… The human crane still blows me away, and the 2.35:1 totally works!
This is up there with my favorites (Stacey+ Chiwei, Joanne + Phil)….
I am so touched by the speeches, but more specifically, I am super impressed with the combination of the old and new techniques. I like the shots throughout the day along with the beautiful music and story-like feel. Even in a few minutes, you can learn so much about the couple through what they say and present. This is what wedding highlights should capture, a snapshot of the couple’s character and love. Amazing!
Thanks everyone for their lovely comments about our wedding video, the song choice, the off-the-cuff speeches and the congrats!!! We haven’t even seen the whole video yet (countdown to Friday Michael!) but I know we’ll treasure it for a long, long, long time. We’re super grateful to Mike, Tony & the rest of StillMotion for all of their hard work!
Incredible!! Neil and I watched this last night and were just in complete awe. Especially when we realized we had watched their love story when we were in your studio! It’s amazing to watch these couples and the amazing work that you guys do! We’ll soon be one of them! ;) Not soon enough though….
I was happy and honoured to have been a guest at this wedding. Let me say that the entire room was in tears during the speeches, and this video truly brought all of that back and captured it perfectly.
I absolutely love this! It reminds me a bit of the Amy and Alex feel, which I’ve always loved and admittedly missed–so kudos! Loving this one and Michelle and John had beautiful and touching speeches which really touches hearts!
These highlights touched my heart in such a special way. The bride and groom’s truest and most sincere love for each other comes out in each and every way, and you folks, have done a marvelous job of capturing that. Brava!
While the whole StillMotion team is off in London, England to shoot a wedding this weekend, I thought it would be fun to post another destination wedding we shot, that of Natalie and Daniel from last October. What a contrast between the stress levels from weddings in Canada and the US compared to somewhere tropical. The timing of the ceremony was decided on that afternoon, the spa where Natalie got ready was located right beside two large pools and an open bar, and the resort had some very comfy beds covered by a canopy, overlooking the ocean. The ceremony ended up happening right before sunset, which was rather breathtaking, but that didn’t leave much time for a photo-session afterwards. Rather than trying to rush through the shots, which is nearly impossible to do in such a gorgeous location, we all decided to take it easy and then come back out the next day for a day after/ trash the dress type shoot. When it came to putting the highlights together, I wanted to blend all of these different elements together and create something more akin to an overview of the entire trip, rather than just a chronological telling of one day. -Patrick
WOW! i’m really impressed with this video! the song was so fun and upbeat, but there were moments that i got tears in my eyes because you can just tell how much in love they are! great job at capturing that emotion!
Amazing, guys! I loooove the song, and I looooove the whole thing. I teared up a bit too. :) It seems like you guys have a “fresher” look when you’re on destinations. :) Have fun in London!
stephen sager - April 30, 2008 12:00 am
That was great! Wonderful combination of perspectives.
Suzanne - April 29, 2008 12:00 am
wow! Great job guys! I’m sure the lovely couple loves it!
Phyllis - April 29, 2008 12:00 am
Bravo bravo! I think i balled just a little there…beautiful song choice. I think the song is called “I’m Yours” but who sings it? Jason Mraz? Excellent job Stillmotion team
Having just read Amina’s post, I couldn’t help but quickly post about another fun shoe shot, but cinema-related this time. While we don’t often post wedding highlights online (we have to save some of our stuffs for the couples visiting us at the studio!!!), I’m going to share with you Ted + Mya’s wedding highlights. Those of you who attended our Evolution Experience workshops, may recognize the couple as I used Ted + Mya’s Main-Feature to illustrate + dissect the MANY story-telling + editing principles that the Cinema team here lives and breathes by. My apologies for not having an incredibly informative shoe-shot tutorial, I’m simply not as good of an educator as Amina!
*EDIT* I was joking re my last comment. For those interested, we have been sharing technical insights + trying to keep up with all the questions from the video community on Vimeo. Simply click the Vimeo link that the video resides on if the language of film has any interest to you! Hope you feel the energy and fun in this clip (find the shoe shot!).
-MYW. ps. Jeff + Lisa, we have not forgotten about you! =)
This is definitely one of the greatest highlights you’ve done :). I like the upbeat nature of this clip. In fact I prefer the high paced edits more than the slower ones.
That pilot whip pan transition in the beginning was in-freakin-credible!
I’ll refrain from trying to dissect anything because it’d take me a few tries to spot something (other than Tony on the dance floor) lol. Since the payoff of that shot outweighed the distraction, I’m sure you kept it due to that reason ;) heh.
Greg, I’m laughing that you actually posted twice on this clip!
Joel + Hector, we should definately do a Steadicam Pilot shootout one day. & Hector, I manned the Pilot all day while shooting alongside Tony for this wedding. I definately would have loved Konrad + Patricks help tho!
- Michael.

At the 2008 WEVA (Wedding and Event Videogaphers Association) awards (one of the biggest international awards competitions with thousands of entries) Julia + Phil won Gold in the SDE category, Johanna + David won silver in the highlights category, and our demo also won silver! Here are some of the winning clips in case you missed them the first time around. Johanna + David, who we shot earlier in the year in London, England is only available for in-studio viewing. So, you will have to come in and see us if you want to catch that one :)
Put some southern BBQ in one of those videos, nothing can compete with that! Congratulations guys, ya’ll deserve it! Although, we never thought we would have had Canadians at our wedding, but it worked out nice… :)
Aw, man – I’m so proud of you guys! Amazing talent and teamwork all around. You always win gold in my book :) Congratulations, everyone!
Jenny F. - October 8, 2008 12:00 am

Jennifer Hui - October 6, 2008 12:00 am
..Most importantly, congratulations to StillMotion! What an amazing year for you guys. But wait, it’s not quite over yet! Can’t wait to see how you guys will rock 2009!
Thank you for sharing so many wonderful moments with us leading up to, after, and on the wedding day. We have all greatly enjoyed getting to know everybody, which means so much when we will be shooting Melissa and Aaron’s wedding, as well as Cyndi and Cory’s wedding all in the coming year. We are very excited to see you all again and to share so many more wonderful moments. Back to Jess and Ryan // The first clip we want to share is their highlights. Now normally we try not to post a highlights clip and SDE from the same wedding, but we just couldn’t resist in this case. Konrad came up with a rather genius narrative and we just had to share. Secondly, Jess and Ryan wanted to produce something to introduce their wedding parties at their reception, so we came up with a couple concept videos and shot everything prior to the wedding. Below is a sample of what we shot for the guys side which was inspired by the original Beastie Boys Sabotage music video. Their is a link below to the girls side of things, which was doe to Fergie – Glamorous (or as Konrad says in his Polish accent – ‘glamaroose’). Below these you will find some very sweet words that Jess and Ryan had to say about us after seeing their SDE.
WOW!!!! That is the best wedding reception video (plus the girls one) that I’ve ever seen. So creative. I sure wish all couples getting married would be willing to think outside the box for something jaw dropping like that. Major Talent points for you guys!
Jessica Nardone-Collina - August 9, 2008 12:00 am
I know my thanks are already posted (hehe) but words cannot express my awe and my appreciation for your incredible incredible talents! I will treasure these videos which hold the memories of the greatest day of my life thus far. I am so thankful to have found you, and just in time! What can I say, we were meant to be! hehehe! Love you guys!!
This is officially my favourite highlights clip from you so far! Yet another pat on the pack guys…
Have you ever, or do you ever, film audience reactions when you show a SDE? would be great to see! i bet there’s quite a downpour of tears in the house!
Would love to see the highlights clip from your London visit, but can’t find it?
what was my first thing to do this morining, watch this pieces..sweet am the first to comment…did u fix the time with creativity!? omg…u did it…on the highlights with a float amazing view…with the reverse time..with awesome moments of those great people, with the touch of armonius colors over sharp and amazing scenes…i did watching the another one of mockmusicv before, and i luv it, every time that i see this can i see something diferent?? ever!!!… and jess and ryan those comments ever are the best pay to the artists!…it feels like am going to do this the next time better and better…wow…am still imagine to patrick saying wow, with the steadi over…

You guys are insane. You have such great talent (especially in the videos) that I have no words for it. I’ve seen a lot of wedding photographer/videographers, but most lack genuine talent and creativity. You guys have def. got it, and I am a fan. I lost my bookmarks a while back, but I’m glad I found this site again. Keep up the exceptional work, and hope to see more.
Every time i see this video i like it more and more. Just beautiful!
We adore your work! You guys ROCK! You guys are definitely up on top! =)
As always, great job Patrick and team. How do you guys pull out the story, the essence of the couple?? It makes me mad you do it so well, but it makes me proud to know you’re a colleague. Nice work!
Simplemente, precioso!!!
My one regret with my elopement is that I didn’t hire a videographer to document the day. So beautiful.
DUDE!
and we are so excited to be sharing your special day with you :)

Wow. 2:39.
Love it! So excited that wedding season is here so I can get all misty watching your fabulous work!
